Neighborhood Elk (4 photos)
Lens: Tair 3 300mm F4.5 Preset Camera: K20D Photo Location: My neighborhood ISO: 200 Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: Colorado CJ, 05-30-2012, 07:06 PM

I came home after work today to find a small group of bull elk bedding down in an open area in my neighborhood. I got my camera at the house and walked out to the herd. All are in velvet and look to be very healthy.

You can often see elk right in town walking down the street, even occasionally in downtown Loveland.

Shot with my Tair 3 300mm F4.5 Preset lens at F5.6 and my K20D.

A few were already fast asleep

must be great to have such wonderful subjects in your 'hood. We occasionally find colorful hippies with broke down VW vans in our neighborhood. They are quite approachable and colorful. Just don't get too close or you'll come away smelling of sage and patchouli.

That is one beautiful herd of elk. That is one sharp lens in the right hands. I don't know what your neighborhood is feeding those elk but they sure look healthy.
