Hi Kevin

I like these unexpected bonus shots. You didn't plan this, did you ? But if you did I admire your patience.

Nevertheless, I sometimes surprise myself when I see what I have captured. Often one does not notice or is aware of what is in the frame at the time of shooting.

Not wanting to highjack your post; I seem to remember you recently visited Sydney and I think you will recognise this landmark I shot some time ago, with a similar invasion of a plane.

I said many times: Photography is 30% light, 30% skill and 30% luck. The remaining 10% ? - please fill in as required. (in my case it is likely to be 40% luck and 20% skill )

Greetings

Being in the right place at the right time and getting lucky is a great combination Kevin.I took this shot in 2006 and some thought it was a cut and paste job.--charliezap

Thanks SS. Not planned, I was actually birding and watching the moon rise - although the sun was below the horizon for me, for the plane at that height it was still above the horizon and illuminating the fuselage. No other planes were getting anywhere near being in the frame but I tracked this one and luckily it just made it into the 510mm frame !

I have not had the pleasure to visit Sydney yet, my trip to NZ/Aus to visit my sister has gone back ro Jan/Feb 2013 due to finances and not closing the deal I though was going to pay for it all Now I have to save up just like everyone else

The story behind the photo was that I was taking moon shots in the afternoon and the sky was full of airliners making the big arc from Europe.I thought that maybe one would fly close to the moon and one did. I submitted the picture to Parade News Magazine that goes National and the picture was chosen from 5 that week and it was Picture of the week---good for $100 and bragging rights. The camera was my first Pentax (Ist-ds) and the lens was a Quantaray 75-300mm.--charliezap
