Tamron 90mm Macro lens, First attempt
Posted By: Ed in GA, 01-20-2008, 10:52 AM

This is my first attempt at a Macro shot. I can sure tell right away that a good, small, tripod is going to be a neccessary piece of equipment.

Ed,
If you handheld that one, you did extremely well. Looks like you used flash and a small aperture - quite sharp indeed.

Some PP to brighten it up might help, but otherwise, great capture.
Keep it up!

Ed,

That's waaay better than my first macro, by a longshot. That bodes well for you, given the fact that it's handheld!

As Ash suggested, and if I may, can I post a slightly more vivid shot? I've suppressed the shadows a bit, decreased tonal range, then bumped up the Hue and Saturation just a bit, since it was a tad underexposed, and I think the yellow stamens were brighter than the photo actually shows?

Marc,

Feel Free to make any adjusments you wish and post them.

Ash,

The flower was lying on my kitchen counter just adjacent to the stove hood. The lighting is from the halogen flood.

It is handheld, f/8 and 1/60, ISO400 and WB set for Tungsten.

William, that's a great shot. I love shooting stuffed animals.

I like the adjustments, it looks brighter and more defined.

I posted the original "out of camera" so that I could get an honest evaluation.

Here's my PP. Done in PSE5 "quick fix"

Nice shot Ed I think a fill flash would have helped. I just got a macro lens as well - I think macro is gonna be fun. Enjoy!
