I like the effect. Looks like heat rising off it.

Yes it is interesting, it's called Oil Painting and is a filter in the new Photoshop CS6

I have mixed feelings on this one. It's an eye catcher and has great color, and I have to say I like it (could see it on my wall).... but to me the filter effect is a bit too strong. I liked the application a lot better on your splash series, where your use of it made a semi-abstract subject even more abstract and stylish. In this case where you have a natural subject, it seems a bit out of place to me. I don't know if that makes sense... can't put my finger on it exactly. But definitely very cool looking.

Do you have the same picture but maybe with a more mild application of the filter? I'd be curious to see how it looks.
