Canyonlands "Needles District",
Camera: Optio A 40 Photo Location: Utah
Posted By: Bob Harris, 06-06-2012, 09:30 PM

This is from our travels to the Needles District of the NP that forms the southeast corner of Canyonlands and was named for the colorful spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone that dominate the area. Hope you enjoy the photos, Bob

Very nice landscapes. I've never been to Canyonlands and really must set aside a 5 day weekend to go check it out.

You can cover a lot of NP's and territory with 5 days, if based out of Moab Utah, Thanks for taking a look. Bob

Ah Canyonlands. It doesn't get the press that Arches gets but it is sure a beautiful place.

You're right about that Susan, especially this "district" as the NP named it. It is further south of Moab and not a lot of visitors compared to other parks. This is w/o the town on Monticello Utah on a dead end road basically, must see Newspaper Rock is on the way out there though.

Norm, seems like we drive until we run into a mountain or a hole in the ground, all are interesting though.

Such fantastic and interesting rock formations, Bob! Those skies are incredible too. It's really out of a wild west movie! Love these!

A little different from the beauty of Virginia Lori, they have made many Westerns out that way and glad you enjoyed the photos here. Bob
