Things French
Camera: Pentax K-7 Photo Location: Bordeaux Region
Posted By: GeoJerry, 06-07-2012, 11:51 PM

A little travelogue, a collection of images from Bordeaux and surrounding regions.

Les twins hoping mom will buy them a pastry. No translation needed here. Old town, Bordeaux.

Monument aux Girondins, Bordeaux.

Off to Saint-Emilion to try the wine.

A macaroni factory, maybe? OK so there may have been some excessive playing around in PP on this one. :-)

Starting to get late, full of wine.

Time to go back to the hotel. The train station in Saint-Emilion.

The little villa we rented out in Bordeaux after a long day. Or it might have been the Place de la Bourse, I forgot which.

Love the p/p in this series, but nothing beats the beautiful young ladies in #1. All are a pleasure to view.

"Macarons" are little pastries, looking like mini hamburgers...

Nothing to do with Macaroni!!!

Hope you enjoyed your stay here, BTW!

Thanks for taking us along with you. The girls are adorable. After all that wine I can see how you may have mistaken your villa for the one in the last photo.

Wow, I really like the lighting and color contrast in the last one!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback! Bordeaux is an easy place to find great subjects. Hope to go back soon....

LOL yes I know it's not macaroni, we went in there. Just a lame attempt at humor. We loved our visit to Bordeaux. Our daughter is there getting an MBA so we hope to go back one more time before she finishes. Or maybe she can find herself a nice French guy and we'll have family there and reasons to go back regularly. :-)

I like the girls, but my favourites are 3,4 and 6. Each has a stragely different quality. The stone work in 3 is defintiely old world charm, the colours in 4 could be a watercolour painting, and 7 is post card perfect. Which window was the room you slept in?

Thanks for the comments! Well, after some discussion with my wife, it turns out that the last picture was in fact the Place de la Bourse and not our villa, which as it turns out was considerably more humble.

I found the HDR a little OTT for me in #4 & 7 but it was perfect in #3 (in these shots only as I love HDR).

#1 is a great street shot and the winner for me.

#4 was WAY over the top. :-) Intentionally so, looking for a watercolor-like effect. I thought #7 was a fairly mild HDR (all 3 were single RAW's), but it's all subjective, so, fair enough... Thanks for looking!
