Colorado Campground Calamity
Posted By: Bob Harris, 06-08-2012, 01:14 PM

Clouds passing over the Rocky Mountain at over 14,000' drop into the warmth of the Colorado prairie where tornadoes often spawn. The storms produce high winds, hail and torrential rains. Here are a couple of photos looking West over our neighbors 5th wheeler as the sun was setting, the sky went from a golden color to a orange/red glow. Winds blow the storms out East quite quickly and if tornadoes do touch down, they often strike remote areas.

The worse part of the storm went out east, but we did get rain, hail and 50mph winds and lots of sheet lightning. Hail hitting the fiberglass roof on our rig is a little unnerving inside, but has always held up well. Thanks for taking a look. Bob
