...if you've a mind to!

This is old Larry, he has more problems than you can count, and less money than anyone I know...but he is always happy and in a good frame of mind. He comes in fairly often where I eat lunch every day, and has for years. He knows I'm always good for a hamburger, a soft drink or a few dollars. He's always going to "pay me back", but it must slip his mind!

Sometimes he will walk 8-10 miles to get to town and it's always either very hot or very cold when I see him walking. I give him a ride when I see him, and hope others will to. He has some mental and physical challenges...but always has a big smile. I took this snap of him and it reminded me that we have a lot to be thankful for, no matter our circumstance.

I enjoyed the narrative, Rupert. I think Lincoln once said something like (I'm paraphrasing): "people are as happy as they decide to be."

Thanks guys, you too have good hearts! I seldom need reminding of my good fortunes in life, simple as they may seem to some. I've always thought the key to happiness is to be content in your circumstance, if it is the best you can do. Larry understands this......and it has worked well for me!

Thank you for a timely reminder to us all to pause and consider those less fortunate.

No matter how impoverished our own circumstances there is someone else more in need of our help and that should fuel our interactions with our fellow travellers.

Your acceptance and support of this wonderfull brother is a lesson to us all.

(and I really like that he is not the Moustache King.....
