Zion National Park - storm approaching
Lens: 18-135 WR Camera: K5 Photo Location: Zion National Park, Utah, USA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/30s Aperture: F13.5

We just got back from a tour of Grand Canyon and Utah national parks. Here's a shot late afternoon at Zion National Park, with a storm brewing in the north. The cloud formations were stunning. It was about 100 degrees F in the shade.

This was shot with the humble 18-135 WR at 28mm and a circular polarizer. It was also hand-held at 1/30 sec. I was really pleased with its output. A great travel lens and so easy to carry around. I took some limited primes with me, and the 15mm was nice to have along and the 35 macro for close ups, but really I could do a whole trip with just the 18-135 next time if required. Would just have to beware of the long end beyond 115mm at infinity/distance and not expect too much at 18-20mm depending on the scene. Otherwise it does pretty much everything well.

Anyhow, it was a fun trip and we saw some amazing places we'd never been to. I'll post some more later.

Very cool looking forward to more pics as well may be in that area in the fall. You're a brave man to do that area in the summer.

Awesome shot! We have that lens with a polarizer on and what you said about it is so true. A great walk about lens that always surprises me with the results.

Gorgeous composition and colours in your landscape and the you really captured the power in the sky.

It looks like a valley of the cloud gods. Someone should write a novel and put this on the cover.
