Speed and defying physics
Lens: Sigma 105 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F5.6

All I have lately is Bee's and Bubbles but I am ok with that

In 1934, in fact, French entomologist August Magnan and his assistant André Sainte-Lague calculated that bee flight was aerodynamically impossible.
The haphazard flapping of their wings simply shouldn't keep the hefty bugs aloft.

The secret of honeybee flight, the researchers say, is the unconventional combination of short, choppy wing strokes, a rapid rotation of the wing as it flops
over and reverses direction, and a very fast wing-beat frequency.

A honey bee beats its wings between 200 and 230 times a second , the shutter speed here was 1/250s and still did not freeze it (hand held so some camera shake to account for)

Here's a great video

Great shot, Dave. 1/250th, eh? I will try to remember. How close, physically, were you to the subject?

I saw this on CE Dave, I think using a flash and stepping up to 1/1000 would stop it. Black Flag will definitely stop it at any speed.

Thanks RM I was close maybe a foot , foot and half - learning form others a flash would have helped with freezing the wings as well going to keep trying as long as bees keep coming to me.
