Nikon F / Plus-X / 1970's L.A.

(Sorry for the dust, still never learned how to spot. HDR, stitching and LDR is more interesting to learn. But I promise to learn one day soon!)

Very nice shot.....I never did film, but love seeing what others do...or did do.

Your question is a haunting one.......maybe it is best left unanswered?

Regards!

Great photo. It invites one to look for thoughts on the soldiers' faces. And how good film looks! Dare I say: better than digital?

Ooh Rah, Devil Dogs! Great candid portrait. I suspect wherever they are they'd love to have a copy of that shot.

Marines during Vietnam era? Hopefully a good ending. Met an Army vet who did six years of service. The first time he got hurt, he had a metal plate added to his skull. The last time he hit a trip wire that injured himself and killed two squad members. His worst injury was during Somalia where was captured and crucified(forearms & feet)to a board(saw the scars to his arms).

He had a tough life! A real survivor.

I have been inspired by this marvelous, evocative shot to get my 1971 Pentax Spotmatic -generated B&W contact sheets out of storage, try to hunt down the negatives and post.... I am sure I have a couple venerable, viable Vietnam war shots as seen through through the old 50mm...

Yeah, it really is a good photo...memories.

Just wondering though, after I read the title and then the first line of the description, I'm not sure that "soldiers" and "shot" go well together.

Maybe. I'm pretty plain spoken. I just say it simple as I can.

Would have been worse to call the thread title 3 black soldiers shot in L.A....
