Back form holiday - Daylesford
Posted By: joele, 12-30-2006, 12:23 AM

Hi all, back from my week long holiday in theh Daylesford region (west of Melbourne)... Just going through my photos now and thought I would share some...

Just driving around some old dirt roads (about to run out of petrol in the middle of nowhere, but I had to stop anyway)

At the Lavendar farm

This was a rather big lake in the middle of Ballarat, but like all the rivers and waterfalls I visited it has dried up... rather sad...

Glasswork from a local glass blower in Daylesford (Don Wreford)..

I'll be putting more up on pbasse as I process them...

Wow, Joel. Welcome back and amazing photographs!

I am left alone in melbourne working through the weekend plus the new year. Sad for me.

1st shot - great perspective giving the mirage look of illusion, the narrow depth of field creats the blurred forground like heat distorting the air density with eddie current

2nd shot - Great bokeh with good composition. That is the lavender farm we supposed to visit together 2 months ago... I am envious. Lovely use of fa 50 f1.4

3rd shot - again great use of composition and fantastic details of the cracked bottom of the reservoir. Tragedy for farmers ... I am getting jealous of not having a sigma 10-22 ...

4th shot - I guess that the glass artist let you take photograph of his glass arts in his studio? mmmm Maybe I should go there and collect a few more glass arts when his wife is not there marking up the price... I know the his art work is even more expensive overseas now...

Take it easy after a long trip.

Talk to you soon

Thanks to both of you....

James are you working NY eve if not we could attempt to go to the city.. (train maybe?)

As for the glass artist (don wreford) yes he let me take shots in his studio, I also picked up a few pieces as his girlfriends was away.. Different style to what we got last time, marked at $120 each and he said $50 will do.. LOL.. He just wants people to enjoy his work (which I do), the Girlfriend has the business mind.. this website shows his work - CATALOGUE 2005 Hot Art Glass

These are very well done. I can only ditto what James says. I like them all but my favorite is the rusty metal flower in front of the lavender field. Your mind's eye is excellent. Thanks for posting these.

I

can't decide on a favourite here. They are all so good in their own way.

I keep going #2. No, #3. No- that's such a neat fence in #1. BUT- the colours in #4. I'm getting nowhere.

Keep them coming. And let poor James go with you next time. His camera might be dust-covered soon based on his work schedule!

I was trying to contact you but you probably went to sleep. Trains might be packed because of the fireworks. I finished at 8 pm tonight. Let me know ...

Do you want to post the rest of your photos from your trip?

What a gorgeous series! The first one almost looks like a miniature. The second one has something special about it, excellent work.
