Hummers
Lens: DA 55-300 Camera: Pentax K5 ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F6.7

Out trying to get good photos of some Hummingbirds. It's really tough! Particularly since they are so cut throat. One barely has time to drink a little bit before another one zooms in to attack him and force him away. The DA 55-300 isn't at the same level as the DA 300 f4, but you can still get decent photos if you push the iso a little bit.

Thanks for looking!

I assume you mean from the birds? About ten feet probably. These are about fifty percent crops of the original photos.

Thanks. I have a couple of feeders that I put out and if I don't get them out early enough in the year, the hummingbirds will fly around the windows of my home looking for them (and I guess to let me know that I am falling down on the job).

You did very well for for the DA 55-300 . That last one would stand up to most any lens.

Thanks for the comments. I keep thinking that maybe I should get a DA * 300, but it is just a hobby for me... (LBA is a tough master).

I thought I would tack on a couple of other photos that I took yesterday evening. Biggest problem with DA 55-300 is slow speed. These were taken at iso 1600 and then pushed to 6400 to get a decent exposure (and shutter speed).
