Cloud Spray?
Lens: DA 16-45 and DA 55-300 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Kemah, TX
Posted By: Sailor, 06-24-2012, 03:45 PM

I shot these three pics from the cockpit of our docked boat right before heading to dinner (and an authoritative G&T). Frankly, I have to admit that I know of no word that describes this phenomenon - for now I'm using "cloud spray."

Neat.I guess it's some variation of the God's Fingers effect, but I've never seen it like this before.

I always figure when this happens, GOD is about to speak. Haven't heard him yet though.

I've not seen this phenomenon often, either. It must be light scattering off of particles - perhaps pollutants. Clear Lake is in the Houston area, after all.

Since I'm a scientist, I was thinking of physics rather than the Almighty. Maybe I should have been listening.

This is very cool phenomena and you have a better chance of witnessing it because of the big sky over open water. I love your shots... very dramatic and awe-inspiring!!

I believe that the phenomenon is called crepuscular rays, and very nice they are too.
