Fairy Slipper, orchid
Lens: Voigtlander 180 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Umeå

Finaly I got the chance to see a Cypripedium calceolus, also known as a Fairy Slipper, Guccoshoe. I got to see the other Fairy slipper we got up here in the north 2 summers ago, the Calypso bulbosa also known as Norna (see picture at the bottom). The first ochid (Cypripedium calceolus) is a large one, grows up to 50cm tall (1 and a half feet), while the second one, the Calypso bulbosa, onle grows to be 10 cm tall (4 inches).

What beautiful orchids. The last tiny one is so delicate and beautiful. Would love to see these in the wild. Thanks so much for sharing.
