Evening in Manhattan Beach
Lens: Pentax 17-70 mm f/4 Camera: Pentax K-7 Photo Location: Manhattan Beach Pier ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 2s Aperture: F11

Over the weekend I got a new tripod and a neutral density filter. So today I decided to try them out on the Manhattan Beach Pier. These are late afternoon shots, in which I stopped down to around f/11 and set ISO 100 with neutral density on to get long exposures.

People strolling on the pier to catch the sunset.

Looking north across Santa Monica Bay to the Malibu coast in the distance. The tanker is sitting high in the water, waiting for a load from the refinery to the right of the picture.

Nice colors. Looks somewhat like batik fabric :-)

I love the first one but I am a fan of ghost people in photos. The colors in the second one a really interesting. Well done.

I really like #1, gives a chilly look to the pier, very eerie with time passing by.

Thanks, and I forgot where that texture came from. Will have to look for it all over again.

Thanks! Wasn't too chilly though, somewhere in the high 60's.

First one is a lively time capture and the mixture of the seated people and more ghost like ones is cool to say the least.
Second one has more of a painting effect. I'm impressed by both.

I agree but now you've got me thinking about how long its been since I've heard the word "batik."

Thanks MSL and Sage97... actually I don't know what this filter was called, but I'm certain it wasn't batik. :-) I think it was either linen, or rice paper.

Cool effect - I especially like the second one and the texture it has.
