Hoverfly
Lens: Quantaray 70-300, Raynox DCR-150 Camera: K-x Photo Location: the back yard woods
Posted By: luftfluss, 06-28-2012, 04:46 PM

Different-looking hoverfly than I usually see around here.

First shot with the Quantaray, the final 3 had the Raynox DCR-150 added.

Thanks, Bob. The hoverflies mimic the wasp patterns and coloration as a form of protection. I like 'em, as they prey on aphids.

Excellent shots, slightly different body patterns but same colour as the ones we get here.

Superb shots LL - it looks almost as if it's made from plastic ! #2 - for the iridescent wings and #4 for the body position are the best for me, but they are all good.

The Raynox proves itself again. I looked for the lens and was shocked to see the Quantaray - until I saw you had the 150 attached. Excellent work.

Amazingly gorgeous! We showed our photography at a paddle festival last weekend and people went crazy over my colourful bee and flower shots... these would look amazing and sell for sure, printed at 5x7, matted and framed in a set. Really vibrant shots that make me smile!!

Considering it cost $69, yeah, I'm happy with the Quantaray.

Thanks. I, too, thought it looked like plastic. Pretty funny that it was standing on it's head to eat.
The Raynox is the best $38 I ever spent on photo equipment. I bought it years ago when my camera was a Fuji S6000fd.

Thanks Tess! It's cool that you can sell your colorful photos at festivals. I've never tried, I've done a couple of events, and I've donated pics to non-profit groups for fundraising & advertising purposes. Crowds get me anxious, so I doubt I'd ever try at a festival!

Thanks, I wish the wings were in better focus. I find it amazing that there's so much going on with such a tiny creature, no more than 1/4" long.
