I'm Sorry......
Lens: Kiron 105 2.8 Macro Camera: K5 Photo Location: Texas ISO: 6400 Shutter Speed: 1/150s Aperture: F11
Posted By: Rupert, 07-01-2012, 06:47 AM

I was changing the bulb in the yard light late yesterday and I saw this tiny critter....about the size of a small mosquito. He was dancing up a storm like some sort of ballerina, and I rushed in to get the K5 and mount a macro lens......hurried back out hoping he was still there...forgot my glasses and had difficulty focusing in the dim light, but did manage to get a shot....at ISO 6400.

It's not all that good, I'm sorry, but I wanted to share this little neon critter with you anyhow. I've never seen such a glowing and Neon-Like insect in all my shooting around here. He put on a really good show for me, but it only lasted a few minutes and he was gone.....off to Broadway?

Regards!

BTW- Anyone know what he is?

Very colorful. Not sure but looks like some type of assassin bug nymph, or leaf foot bug nymph. I've seen quite a few here, but not one that colorful.

I thought of capturing him and relocating him for some better shots, I knew these were not going to be much in sharpness, and full of noise, but I just didn't want to take the chance I would harm him in any way...he seemed so happy dancing away on top of that post! Live and let live......he might perform for me again some day?

Regards!

Sure wish I had been more prepared, he was a sight to see...glowing like a Neon sign and dancing in some intricate maneuvers! Sometimes you just have to take what you get, and hope for another opportunity.

Regards! & Thanks!
