Landscape from the Train
Lens: Pentax DA 18-135mm Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: New York

A landscape photo taken through a window in the New York-bound Amtrak Adirondack train. I'm not sure exactly where this was except that this was in upstate New York (perhaps the capture time, 3:11 PM, would offer some clues). This shot was post-processed in the GIMP with slight cropping and fairly complex tone curve adjustment.

I know shooting through a window can greatly lower contrast, but I did my best with the curves adjustment. A fast-moving train also creates some significant challenges with avoiding motion blur, and I wanted to make sure there was enough depth of field, hence TAv.

Pentax K-5 with Pentax DA 18-135mm @ 36mm. TAv, 1/500s f/7.1 ISO 320.
