I've been out playing today and came across these... they are (very suitably named) rainbow lorikeets, hang around everywhere in Australia and are loveable, noisy, entertaining and wonderful birds.

They are one of my favourite birds.We are blessed in this country to have unique and beautiful birds like the the Rainbow lorikeet.Well done on your captures.

Thanks Barnster! I love how playful and cheeky they are. And I couldn't agree more with being blessed by the abundance and uniqueness of the Australian wildlife.
Should probably have cropped the pics as reduced file size does affect the lovely details of the image, but I did like the background. Here's another one, also from today.

We have them here but only in our local zoo. I never miss an opportunity to watch them. You are indeed lucky to have them in the wild.

No,you did well to get what you captured.They are a bird that doesn't like to keep still for too long,so trying to get a still still shot of them can be a difficult task,especially when they are hanging in the thick of the trees.

Yes, beautiful birds but impossible to take pictures of... they just NEVER sit still! Those two were the first time I saw any of them relatively still for more than half a second... :-) The were quite cute too, one arrived first, then the other one, initally a bit separated, but then snuggling up to each other... either siblings (my guess, as they still seem to be a bit fluffy) or 'love birds'.
