Here's a few HDR shots from my recent trip to south carolina - all were done handheld 3-shot bracketed...

Depends on the mood I am in I guess....sometimes yes, sometimes no. These are pretty heavily done, but for me, at least tonight, they work very nicely. Actually, it may be because they fit the subjects so very well...excitement , bright and colorful lights, action, etc.
It was a good choice for HDR !

Like em alot. HDR and HDR type effects can be very artistic if done right and I think you did it. Perhaps not in photojounalism, but without manipulation, Ansel Adams images were pretty flat and not very appealing. (Not exactly the same thing, but you get the point. Different time, but still remains a truth)

These are great! The perfect subjects for HDR.... brightly lit evening shots. I like the first one the best because of the way you handled the water. Did you select one exposure and mask it in? The water doesn't have that mushy HDR look it often has, since it doesn't stop moving between exposures. However it does look a tad greenish-yellowish to my eye. I might play with that, but could be my monitor. The second and last one are just fun to look at. Nice.

Those restaurants at the beach have never looked so good. Such a good subject for HDR. Handheld and with people. Who knew. Great job.

Jerry, the yellow'ish is from the wb, I bumped it up to add a little warmth and by doing so it made the red's look a little more cleaner/red...

About the water, the waves were moving extremely slow and that is why it came out looking somewhat normal, there was very little movement between the waves/swells and exposures.

I guess there are a lot of opinions on HDR. I too sometimes like it and other times do not.
These work for me because of the subject matter. Vibrant memories, action and euphoria in these parks and locales.
