Bald Eagle in the Wild
Lens: Tamron 18 - 200 Camera: Pentax Kr Photo Location: PIctured Rocks National Lakeshore ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F6.7

Was lucky enough to spot this beauty while hiking with my wife along Pictured Rocks in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I wish I had my Pentax 55 -300 mm with me but I didn't bring it along as we were hiking. I've also attached some pictures of the trail we hiked in the woods and along the cliffs of Lake Superior.

All photos were shot hand held with a stead breath as I didn't want to lug my tripod along on a 10.5 mile hike. I need to find me a small and light portable one for hiking, any suggestions?

Thanks for looking.

Peteo

Wow - I didn't realize the upper pennisula had such beautiful scenary.
As for the eagle - that's a nice capture. I particularly like the second one, for the eagle, and the third, for the sense of soaring.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. Yes the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has some beautiful scenery and is very rustic. If you love to shoot water, waterfalls, scenery and wildlife the Upper Peninsula is a great place to visit.

Number three is very artistic! Awesome shot in number two. I enjoyed your series very much. Such beautifully rugged area and a 10 mile hike is not for the weak and feable. I recently acquired a very light weight mono pod that my good tripod head threads on... for me some kind of brace is essential as the more I try to steady myself freehand the more I shake! I am also trying to find a backpack-style carrying pack for my good tripod which is heavy. Until then, the monopod is useful and better than nothing.

Thanks for sharing your hike with us!!

This place is on our bucket list and now I know why. It is beautiful. I love that last shot of the waterfall. Rich and lush looking. It is always nice to see an eagle IMHO. I like your captures very much.
