Channel Islands National Park
Camera: Pentax K-7 Photo Location: Santa Cruz Island
Posted By: GeoJerry, 07-27-2012, 12:25 AM

A few more from Santa Cruz Island, one of my all time favorite places.

Heading back to the dock from the top of the island.

Typical island scenery. There are no roads, shops, trash, nothing out here. It's like California must have looked 500 years ago.

A cedar grove planted by an early settler for his daughter. That's Anacapa Island in the distance.

An abandoned drilling rig. From it's small size I'm guessing it was a water well.

Classic California vegetation.

Highland scene.

This little fox was moving just a little too fast for me. It was the best I could do. These foxes almost died out in recent years but are now staging a strong comeback.

Ventura harbor.

Nice series. I might try to get there one day, in the off-season when there are less tourists :-)

Very nice series. I favor #3 but they're all very good.

Thanks, that's Topaz in action. I like their soft focus effect.

LOL Sorry! Now you have an excuse to come back.

Actually it's not too crowded even at the peak of summer. Only a few boats are licensed to ferry tourists to the islands, and they're pretty small boats, so I've never got the feeling of crowds after several visits.
