Osprey, GBH And More...
Lens: DA* 300 | Sigma 70~200 FLD Camera: K5 Photo Location: Maryland ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F5

Went out on this river some more this past weekend, conditions were not as good as they were last weekend but I managed to get a couple of descent shots.

[exposure was off on this one as I just attached the 1.4tc and didn't make the adjustments for it, turned out presentable though]

[got this one at the crack of dawn]

Wow Joe, You got some really great shots here. I love the reflection in #2 and of course #3 is just perfectly beautiful. 6 is also very well done.

Those Osprey shots get a Wow outta me. Looks like you were in the nest with it?
Fine exposure on both which is often tough to get in full Sun. All those critters are in my backyard but I have yet to get that close to the Kingfisher or Osprey. You must be stealthy as well as a good photog.

Had to go look at that Sea EAgle in the nest shot (#3) again. That is just a magnificent capture.

I have been shooting from the Kayak lately and using the currents of the river to drift into the spots where these birds are. Now, even with the Kayak it is still tough to get close to these guys, the only ones that seem to cooperate are the heron's - as long as you don't make any sudden moves in the kayak the heron's will let you go about your business and do your thing. The Osprey that is in the nest is actually an oddity right now, for some reason that one (and it's sibling) has not started to fly yet (possibly late hatchers) - I was pretty certain that going into this past weekend that they would be flying but for some reason have not started to fly yet. For me, right now the Kingfisher's are the ones giving me the most problems, the shot above of that king is the closest I have ever been able to get to one and I was still not close enough. This weekend the kayak will be fully camouflaged and converted into a moving blind and I will anchor up at different places along the river where I know the king's are and try and get some "fishing & feeding" shots of them.

Again, thanks for all of the comments everyone...

You just snuck the third one in didn't you; just to see if we were paying attention. What a wonderful shot. Love the kingfisher too. Nice series with some wall hangers.

Lets see your set up, how big is the kayak, what do you keep your gear in, are you using a tripod or monopod? I've wanted to get a flat bottom aluminium boat so I can do the same type of thing but I don't know if I could get my wife to sign off on the deal.
