Glaciers at Glacier NP, Montana
Photo Location: Montana
Posted By: Bob Harris, 08-05-2012, 04:48 PM

I took this photo off of Going to the Sun Road near the Continental Divide at Glacier NP. I think the photo represents why people first are attracted to the park, but once they visit they find out there is so much more. Thanks for viewing. Bob

Bob, I like a lot this one: texture, geometry, play of light and shadow...

That does it - if I pick only one destination out west, it is going to be Glacier National Park.

That is, until you start posting pics from your next destination......

Just beautiful Bob - all your pics are in my mind when I lay down at night.

Stan, if I had to chose between all the parks we have visited and could only return to one, I would take Yellowstone over all parks. It has a bit of everything there and you could easily spend weeks exploring

Thanks for that Bob - my dream/plan is to be able to take 6 months to do a western tour, but I never get my hopes up too high about anything. I already am forming a contingency plan in case it would have to be a much shorter trip - hence my looking at a single destination just in case.

But, Montana pulls me since I was out there when I was 10 years old on a trip with my father way back when - we stayed on a working ranch for 3 weeks. Now I know I didn't appreciate if fully @ 10 years old so I get to thinking that I need to give Montana another go.

You are pretty lucky with all the beautiful scenery that you have captured recently bob. This one is another stunner of a shot and location. It looks like a perfect spot for some of these extreme skiers.

Stan, if you ever need any help or suggestions on the S/W, just PM me and I will be glad to help out with your itinerary. If you want to stay in Montana, it surrounds Yellowstone to the south and part of the West, so you have the best of both worlds. Here is a map of Yellowstone and the entry points. We like the route going to the park from Livingston or the North entrance. We will be in Idaho and visit part of the park again when we go to the Grand Tetons through the South entrance in a couple of weeks.
