A mountain cabin

This cabin has seen better times. It was a rather horrible day to hike with 6 degrees celsius, a hard wind and rain. But looking back at this photo I am glad I went anyway.

There is a beauty and character in old, derelict buildings. I think the B&W treatment works very well with this type of subject.

That is exactly what we said after a spring canoe trip that turned winter storm in the interior, followed by a winter wonderland!

I love your image! What a terrific find. It has me wondering about the cabin's history. Great mood piece. thank you for sharing!

Love it! There is an old abandoned shack nearby with grass growing out of the gutter. I did a crap hdr of it and deleted in disgust. Time to revisit.

Fantastic shot. B&W is so suitable for it. The whole atmosphere surrounding the place from the sky to the foreground is great.

Everybody thank you very much for your kind words! Tess, I do not have any real information about the history of this cabin but I can guess. There is lots of reindeer herding in this area and there are also farmers with not to much pastures to keep there animals. So it either has been used by reindeer herders or a farmer used when cows and sheep where brought up to the higher pastures to feed the animals. And perhaps it had a dual purpose. Sometimes cabins get build near good fishing water to. Deaning good luck with 'your' cabin!
