K-x and DA55-300mm, survives rain and sleet
Lens: DA 55-300mm Camera: K-x Photo Location: South Afica ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F5.8

This shot is just to show what the K-x and DA55-300mm lens can handle. Only the pop-up flash was covered by my cap and where I normally hold my hand under the lens when shooting, I held it over the lens, not that it helped much. After about 20min of this the lens and camera, especially the dials, were thoroughly wet. I took about 500 shots before the rain stopped. My Canicon friends all ran for cover. I must confess, I was actually on a K-x suicide mission, I want to get the K-30, but needed a good reason to do it. The K-x didn't die, now I have to think what else I have to do to convince the wife I need another camera

Suicide mission! Love it! *TIP: Drop out the battery and declare "HELL, the rain did get to it after all! Look it wont turn on!" Act miserable for at least 12-24 hours, a few gentle sobs before going to sleep in the fetal position and a K-30 will be yours within 48 hours.*

Great shot! I love my Kx even though I never use it anymore due to the K5. I am heading out on a canoe trip this week and will bring the Kx as back up. When I look through my archives I can see it really does take great photos. The fact that you could not kill it with this much rain and a soaking is comforting to know. Great shot, by the way!

Thanks Tess, it is a rugged little camera! Perhaps I should get the K-30, and keep the K-x as a backup

You could quit taking such good shots with it. If you continue to take wonderful photos she will think you don't need another camera. Love the look of the rain in this one. You stopped it nicely I think.

One more reason I consider myself extremely lucky to have bought my used Asahi Pentax out of a pawn shop in 1961. Pentaxes just keep on working. And I can still use my screw mount lenses if I want to. And I can still use my M lenses, which I do a lot.

Love the shot!

Thanks for looking Albert, I've got a few Pentax film cameras, but in my small town the processing is very expensive, so I don't take them for a workout often enough.

Bob, after what it went through, and a couple of 2 feet drops on the TV room floor in the past, it would be difficult to let it go
