Hot Rod Illustrations

This is a process I've been playing around with for the purpose of doing (and selling) prints. I hope you like them.
Taken with either a K-5 or K10D and a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8.

Hi

One of the best image manipulations I have seen on this PF show. I take my hat off.

Greetings

Very good colouring in! You didn't even go outside the lines.
I particularly like the old Holden in the last pic. FX model?

Regards

Thanks all, but it's actually not coloring in. I do an HDR from a single RAW. Then, make a copy of it and use Topaz Simplify to make an illustration of that image, and then blend them together in layers erasing the color from the HDR layer to reveal the illustration layer. It takes a while to do, but I like the effect especially when printed on a white background. It helps to take your attention away from a cluttered background, and makes the car almost jump off the wall.

I think these are terrific, Michael. I dig the third one, especially.

Really like these, dare I say very original, well I for one have never seen anything like this before.

Would have good commercial appeal, try the market and see how you get on.

I think you've got a winning technique! Very nice indeed! '57' Chevy is special......think you already know that!

Really well done and definitely these should sell. get yourself booths at car shows, fairs and outdoor art shows and start counting the cash i think.

Very nice. Couple things though. One...I know when you take car photo's at car shows there will always be people and other cars in the background. It can be distracting to the viewer. What I would suggest is you show some of your photo's of a particular car...say the 57 Chevy...to the actual owner. I'm sure he would be pleased and you might ask him if he's interested in a photo shoot...where you can choose the background....devoid of other cars and people.

You might offer good terms to the first people you deal with so word get's out.....you want to establish yourself first...then you can take it from there. Just a suggestion.
