Smoky Sunset in Idaho
Photo Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Posted By: Bob Harris, 08-19-2012, 09:52 PM

We left Montana headed south into Idaho where at least 4 major fires have burned over 300.000 acres so far and the smoke filled sky is flowing east over our location in Idaho Falls. Here is a photo from our campground at sunset of the smoke highlighted by the sun.

Those fires are sure upping the ante on sunsets aren't they? Marvelous color in the sky.

This is getting ridiculous, every place we travel there seems to be fires this year. In 3 weeks we will be in Utah, BEWARE...

The drought and high temperatures here in the West have really contributed to this fire season. Temps in Idaho Falls are supposed to reach 90 today but a cooling trend is to come in on Thursday so that should help.

It really is sad Dave, many people lose their homes and don't have insurance or enough to cover losses. It is hard to start over again for them, especially seniors. Thanks Bob

I live in the Idaho Falls area and it has been like this for the past 2 or 3 weeks. It has made for some specatular sunrise/sunsets, unfortunately for me, my camera is in for repair. Oh well, great shots.

you gotta get that camera back, I think I heard there were two fires burning at near 100,000 acres burned with zero/5% containment. Thanks for looking, Bob
