Thoughts on The Thinker?
Camera: Panasonic LX-5 Photo Location: Stanford University
Posted By: Sailor, 08-24-2012, 09:46 AM

On a thread I posted yesterday ("Agony"), I mentioned that during a quick, weekend trip to California last week to visit our daughter and son-in-law in Palo Alto we visited Stanford University's Cantor Fine Arts Center. Because of the brevity of our trip (and the fact that I like to travel light), I threw my little traveling side-kick LX-5 into the tote bag rather than drag an SLR around all weekend. However, I truly wished for more time along with my K-5 and a couple of my DA Limited lenses when we breezed through the museum's Rodin holdings. Here are three B&W conversions of the The Thinker (a 1972 full-scale replica of the original casting) along with their color counterparts. I much prefer the B&W ones, but I'm curious if that view is shared by others. Any thoughts on the thinker?

for this subject... let me think.... (ahem, sorry, bad pun).... prefer the b+w.... the background is less distracting to me without color, forcing focus on the subject... which of course is a classic.... like the perspectives in capturing the rodan... dave m

Love the b/w, he was probably thinking how much longer do I have to pose for this idiot, it's cold in here.

Like this comment and I like the shots but agree the B&W are better in this case.

Thanks, man - you are, indeed, a scholar and a gentleman.

Thanks, buddy. I much prefer the B&W ones for the very reason you mention.

Thanks, Bob. I will say, he was very patient for me - sitting there without moving a muscle.
