Wait for the light....
Posted By: clarenceclose, 01-30-2008, 06:45 PM

Here in the high country we say if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.

Well similar applies to photography...if you don't like the light, wait a minute.

I found both pieces have their certain quality, one intense in contrast and one soft and blue.

Your thoughts....

I prefer the contrasty shot personally Clarence. I feel like you could do a lot more with it than the other one. That said, assuming you shot in RAW, the soft one could work just as good and without the shadows; with a little white balance work.

Hi Clarence, that are two very nice photos and while I prefer the first one there is nothing wrong with the second one. Thanks for posting them.

I prefer the softer shadows and cooler tones of the 2nd shot better. Go figure!

I think they both have merit and I like both of them equally for what they portray. It really is all about light. Thanks for sharing!

I think I like the dimmer one more. Based on the shadow, looks like it was pretty late in the day. There's chance not too much later there might have been reds or oranges...

Time to tally up the votes Carence - a nice contrast - I like #1 but I like the softness of #2 better - good shooting.

I prefer the first one with the bright light - it does the "winter light" good justice.

Very illuminating, if you will pardon the pun.

About and even split on what people like.
I detected no strong dislike, just preference.

Thank you all for your comments.

Both nice, but I much prefer the first shot.

I like it very much indeed.
