Ruby Throated Hummingbirds
Lens: DA* 300 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: South Carolina Shutter Speed: 1/1500s
Posted By: slowpez, 09-02-2012, 10:40 AM

I've been practicing taking shots of the hummingbirds as they come to our feeder. They found out about my new lens and decided they wanted to have their photos taken. It is the first we have seen of them all year so it is funny that it happened after the 300 arrived. I will not fess up to how many shots I took to get these five; I will just leave it to you to guess.

Hey, you really done good there girl, very nice for sure. Using a flash really helps also if you don't like the higher SS. Now I'm waiting for you to use that macro lens on these in flight, that's a challenge.

Thanks to you also CeeCee. I feel like this is my first "real" lens and I love it. I still love my 55-300 though and will use it as my carry around, go anywhere, lens.

You make me blush but I have seen some really great hummingbird shots on this forum and intend to keep plugging away until I can do as well.
