Mount Rushmore
Posted By: Bob Harris, 09-06-2012, 08:15 PM

From our travels we again visited Rushmore and vicinity during the summer and wanted to share these up close photos. Not all have seen the side view of Washington, it can be viewed if you take the Needles Highway right outside of the park. This is a wonderful area to vacation and if you can, spend at least a week to explore Custer SP, Deadwood, Spearfish, Needles Highway and the Black Hills as a starter.

My hope is to go there next year. (fingers crossed.) The Badlands looks like an awesome place for photo taking, too. Nice pics, btw!

Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

If you are going there you should see the Minuteman Missile Museum south of Wall, just north of the south entrance to the Badlands. Tickets are first-come at the park ranger office next to the gas station in Cactus Flat :-) There is a launch command center, and a separate missile in the hole a few miles away.

Wall is a tourist trap of drugstore trinkets, but is photogenic.

the Badlands is a special place, you should be able to get some great sunrise, sunset shots for sure. looking forward to your threads. Spearfish Canyon is very nice too, lots of waterfalls. This general area has so much to offer, just allow plenty of time if you have it.

A grand series Bob. Every time I see shots like these it reminds me of so many SciFi movies where the aliens or natural disasters take down the faces. "It's only a movie"--charliezap
that's too funny Charlie, I know what you mean though. I thought some of those were real
