Got through a few more today....

South central part of the island, a typical landscape.

Steam vents at surface, Landmannalaugur.

Snaefellessness beach scene.

Geyser at..... Geysir. This location is where our word comes from.

Trying out an HDR of a geyser.

Thingvellir, east of Reykjavik. This is a very important site to Icelanders as it's steeped in history. It's where chieftains used to meet and sort out problems, and the site of cultural gatherings, markets, and so on. Now a national park.

Typical coastal scenery, western Iceland.

Small village scene.

What a beautifully rugged landscape! You've captured the essence of the area very well - thanks for sharing!

The second best part about this series is that they all showed up the first time for me. I can't get over how spectacular that part of the world is. #1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 are my favorites. The steam vents blew me away.

Thanks causey, but the images are a distant second to actually being there. An amazing place.

Thanks slowpez. I actually used those vents to warm my hands a few times. But you have to be careful as they flow isn't regular and neither is the temperature. You can have nice warm hands one minute, and if you're not careful, burn your hands the next.

Equipment or clothes? We have been working hard on equipment to keep all our batteries charged. We will be 4X4 / Campering on this trip so we need to carry all our charging equipment. Been planning this since Oct and yes I am sure we are bringing twice what we need biut need back up for everything!! Cheers and I will post when I return. JIM

Clothes... brought too many "nice" clothes (at the insistence of the wife), and kept going back to the same workhorse sweaters and jacket. The only camera gear that I didn't use was a lightweight hiking tripod and a remote shutter release unit. I brought lots of batteries too, but found that you can buy them everywhere, even in the small towns with just a gas station/convenience store combo. Interestingly, despite visitng what I thought were pretty remote places, we never had less than 3 bars signal strength on our cell phones.
