We had 17 deer come into the yard yesterday during the sleet/snow. I had to shoot them thru the window and french door to keep from spooking them. I shot them hand held and lighting not very good and slow shutter speed. They wandered around so much it was impossible to shoot several together without the trees/bushes blocking them.

Are those mule deer? (we only have their smaller cousin the white-tail deer here)

Pat, thanks for looking. These are whitetail deer, only kind we have in Arkansas. We do have a few Elk that Arkansas obtained from Colorado a few years ago and were placed on Federal lands along our Buffalo National river.

Cool, Now you'll have to get a blind and set out a few apples and wait. Must be a nice sight to see so close in the backyard.
It would be great to get a few shots without the bushes or window glass.

They are white-tail? Wow... it's really amazing how different they can be from one region to another!

The white tail around here tend to be smaller and lighter coloured and they don't have a dark patch on their tails.


I got this out of my car window on my drive home from snowshoeing last weekend, a farmer was feeding the local deer population.
