Subtle, Bold or Colorful....
Posted By: clarenceclose, 02-01-2008, 06:38 PM

I shot this one at ISO 1600 and it was noisy, even after Noise Ninja.

I could still see something I liked so decided to play a bit.

If you have a preference, speak out. If you have a critique, I'm anxious to hear.

What might you do different?

I like the last one the best. It achieves the same effect you were looking for but the extra hint of colour makes a big difference and adds interest to the shot.

Great composition, I like the second most, because of the graphical nature, almost like a lithograph.

First has not enough contrast to my taste (as seen in this page in such a small size)

I like the 3rd one, but the frame I find distracting.

Take a look at these...perhaps easier to see.

Thank you for your critiques.

I can see that the subtleties of the first shot are definitely lost at this scale and the frames/matting are much larger than the shots. Will work on that.

Appreciate your inputs. Let's try these.

Hi Clarence, I still like # 3 the best but with the original matte and framing. I would extend the shadow all the picture instead of just 2 sides.

Take care, Heinrich
