Birds, Bees, and Butterflies
Lens: DA 300 & Tammy 90 Photo Location: Backyard
Posted By: slowpez, 09-13-2012, 12:15 PM

I have continued to play around with my new lenses so you will all have to suffer through lots of photos for a bit. As the title suggests, critters from my yard have become my targets. Hope you enjoy them. Any tips on improvement will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for the very, very kind comments everyone. We are currently at our favorite state park in SC - Huntington Beach - and wait until we get home on Friday! You may want to ignore this site completely for several days for fear of my boring you to death with hundreds of photos. Lots of butterflies and birds here and the lenses are getting a great workout. Thanks again for having a look and commenting.

Nice series and I particularly like the portrait of a single bird perched on the edge
of the wood. That is a beauty

Thanks Marcus. That is a Carolina Wren. They aren't particularly shy and this one was hanging out on our deck with us during happy hour and, no, we didn't offer him a drink.

Really fantastic series, Susan! I love the butterfly and hummingbird in particular. Such gorgeous colors on the butterfly and to capture the hummy and freeze those wings is no mean feat!!

Ahhh that is where you are! Just in case you are serious, let me put you straight... no way you could bore us to death Susan. As soon as I see you've posted I can't wait to check out your images. And how exciting that you are getting to know two new lenses. It is an awesome experience and I find the fixed nature of a prime really challenges you to see in unique ways. I love this series. Can't wait to see hundreds more!!!
