what I hiked into yesterday
Posted By: little laker, 02-01-2008, 11:57 PM

I woosed out, during a hike yesterday and didn't scale the cliffs beyond this point.
You can probably understand why.

Hi Stu,
Think you did well to hike there. Goodness that looks cold and forbidding!
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Stu,
I just can't understand why you didn't go any further?
Great shot as usual. Fantastic detail of the ice formation. the winter here has been quite mild from other areas and today it is to go to 46f and tomorrow into the 50's What's wrong with this picture.

Wow what a great place. Do you have other shots from that hike. It looks like a lot of snow and that brook does look cold.

Holy chit Batman - excellent shot, as said above beautiful ice formation. Can you crop it to only show the water and the ice formation - maybe we can get a closer look at the water and you get a different image.

What some people will do in the name of fotos.

I did take some additional shots, although it was in-between business meetings. So I didn't get many.
I'll start another thread with a couple of macro's and one more ice/waterscape

I've been within 3 feet of the water when the rocks were as dry as they get.
It's almost frightening, at the best of times a drop in there would be certain death.

You've got it.

cropped to the ice and water

just the ice

just the water

I see that the only way you can get the full picture is to open it in another window.
In the newest firefox you can right click on the image, and click in either open in new window. Or open in new tab.

What a scene! It does look chilly.

I prefer the first version (when opened using the "click here for larger version" - it gives it a nice white frame that sets it off).

I'm glad that you enjoy them.

It was actually the perfect day for a winter hike. Just a little below freezing, without any wind.
So I was just in light weight snow pants and a hoodie.

I'm hoping on another hike to an abandoned homestead on Tuesday. So be prepared for that in a few days.

Nice shot Stu! Easily portrays the cold...!

I don't think there's any "probably" in there at all... Perhaps "sanity prevailed" is the correct term...

Cheers,
Marc

Looking at your shot makes me want to go stand in front of the fireplace for a while.
Thanks for posting. The crop of the whole thing was my favorite. Such green......freezing cold green...seem unnatural...green is supposed to be spring or tropical warm ocean waters.
