Opeongo Lookout.
Lens: DA 18-135 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Opeongo LLookout, Algonquin Park ISO: 200

We were out near some Whitney area wetlands and were seeing this...

I wondered, if the colour was caused by the drought, or if many of the trees in the park were turning yet. So off we went to Opeongo Lookout for the sunset.

Not much happening yet, at least from here..

But there was a very nice sunset.

Here's Tripper at the lookout.

This is moments before he came rolling down the hill, and then sliding on his back. I was thinking "I've never seen him do that before." When I felt some very sharp stinging pain on my ankles elbo and knee.

One of the dogs , probably Tripper must have stuck his nose in a hornet nest and I was stung 6 or 7 times before I gave up and left. Of course we missed the best part of the sunset.

I suffer terribly, terribly I say, to bring you these pictures.

Next time the mutlies stay home.

Thanks for these lovely shots. Got back from my first visit to Algonquin park a few weeks ago, and I miss the place and hope to go back.

Lovely shots! Yikes 6 or 7 hornet stings! Thank you for your suffering!

I especially love the last three shots. Tripper sure is a beauty.

Once Algonquin gets into your blood, it doesn't really ever let go...you might have to make some lifestyle changes to accommodate it.

He's definitely the ham in the family. Point a camera at him and he poses. Kenzie never stops moving, you have to really try hard to get even a bad picture of her.

I for one appreciate the suffering you go through to share these images! They are all quite striking. My favorites are the 1, 3, and of course the pic of your dog.

Thanks Dice, that number 3, one thing we learned, when you have a spectacular sunset it can be hard to trun away from it... but often you best picture is the places the light from the sunset is shining on. Not as much punch, but often much more pastel and subtle , and richer than the harsh view looking straight into the sun.
