If you change mind on the first in line...
Lens: Sigma 70-200 Camera: k-5 Photo Location: side yard ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F5.6

Take a chance on me.

I cut this rose to get it out of the way of exquisite bud that I wanted to shoot on one of our roses. I haphazardly laid it on a pile of stones sitting in my driveway (next to my coffee) and went back to photographing the bud. When I was done i noticed the light striking this flower and thought there was something there. None of the bud shots were worth a damn but I liked the way this one came out.

Just goes to show that it pays to be open to the possibility that each moment brings.

Enjoy!

Marcus

I guess you could say this pic calls for some poetic verse, Hmmm, nothing comes to mind but then I am not a poet. I will leave that up to someone with a gift of words. Great capture, TFS....Cliff

Nice, the rock kind of looks like a weird sandwhich with the flower as a garnish.

Cheers

The juxtaposition of hard & rough and soft & beautiful works for me. I'm glad you created this image.

Very beautifully captured and the fact you spotted the light on the Rose was a bonus. Well done Marcus.

Cliff--I would agree that Abba does not really do it but it came to mind and, like all bad pop songs, seemed to stick!

Thanks for commenting!

"Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me"

That dang song has been floating through my head since I saw the thread title yesterday morning. Nice composition and a nice touch on the lighting.

Love the title! Big ABBA fan here.

I saw this shot on Flickr and fell in love with it, Marcus! Wonderful light and textures, not to mention the detail of the flower. It's really beautiful!
