Baltimore's Inner Harbor
Lens: various Camera: K5 Photo Location: Baltimore's Inner Harbor ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F8

Business meetings took me to the Baltimore area. I flew in the day before and that provided me an evening at the Inner Harbor area. I stayed downtown, and by an unexpected happenstance, they put me up on the 23 floor with a wonderful harbor view. Even with the lights in the room off, the K5's wide and sensitive dynamic range, still easily picked up some reflections off the window.
  • Image 1 - A view of the Inner Harbor area from the 23th floor (Sigma 8-16)
  • Image 2 - The lightship Chesapeake in front of the National Aquarium. (Contax Zeiss 85)
  • Image 3 - The Coast Guard Cutter Tanner - the last surviving ship from Pearl Harbor (Bayonet Tak 135)
  • Image 4 - The Lighthouse on stilts and a couple of sail boats (Bayonet Tak 135)...
The area is well lit. This is both an advantage and disadvantage, depending on your position and view. Some perspectives - the light helps and makes the image. Others, the lights are situated is such a way and are so bright, they just burn in the image. In every case, there was unwanted and unavoidable flare. I did not take any hoods - as I was tight on space anyway (you can only carry so much on the plane), so - you just make what ever adjustments that work in post processing.

Yes - each of these were 5 frame brackets @ +/- 2ev, tone mapped. I tried to not get carried away and keep the colors reasonable.

I also shot the USS Constellation with a thread at https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/199928-machinery-uss-constellation.html

enjoy!
