Ringlight final test... fun fun fun!
Posted By: codiac2600, 02-03-2008, 08:49 AM

Well I finished assembly early this morning and with my gritty look decided to snap off a few from the finished product. Here are the samples with slight PP'ing to contrast and an overlay layer for a bolder effect. Enjoy these while I finish setup images and diagrams.

All images taken with my Pentax K10D, DA* 16-50mm 2.8, ISO 200.

The aperture fluctuates from 3.5-5.0 and shutter between 1/40-1/80.

Trying to decide who will win the Super Bowl today...

I JUST CAN"T DECIDE!

Pimpn' it ya'll

Total grunge right here especially with the Halo 3 shirt...

Good Stuff. Maybe the producers/directors of the next "The Ring" part 3 should take a look at this as an idea.

Creative and ingenious.
Self-made ring flash... and you've made it work brilliantly!
Awesome!
And you're going to share your secrets too?
That's generosity!

Well done Chris, job well done!

Hmmm... they prolly would rather use some crazy CG effect for it instead of the real deal.

Thank you Hamid and I'm almost done processing all the shots for how it's all assembled and will hopefully have it up soon, but it looks like Monday cause football takes my time this Sunday.

Lol, thanks Stu, and yes I try and shave, but I'm lazy and it's the weekend... my problem is when I don't save I tend to break out a little, but it adds to the grittiness of the overall image I suppose.

Thanks Charlie and it is fun because what is a picture without light? just an undeveloped image...

I used to work for a video game store in town and I get the hook ups on the free stuff they get

I didn't find a write up I saw one in a random strobist video and thought to myself... I could build one!

aside from the ring flash...

I know you must have a special place in your heart for #4 as you made that into your latest avatar, but I personally have a preference for #3 as that. Here's why (please feel free to disagree )

#4 for me conveys a certain 'unhappiness' due to 'frustration' ... leaving me with a certain unexplainable 'anxiety' simply from witnessing it (A+++ for conveyance of that emotion thru the shot tho!!!) ... in short, leaving me with a (-) bias'ed feeling when seeing it.

While #3 conveys a undeniable 'strength' and 'confidence' to me leaving me saing to myself, "this guy's on top of the world!"... please deduct $0.02 from my account.
