My little corner of British Columbia
Posted By: spyglass, 02-04-2008, 12:04 AM

Encouraged by clear skies and warmer weather I ventured out in my front yard.

I was trying to sneak up on this bird that settled on a grounded log in front of my house. (wishing I bought that Sigma 135 - 400 zoom)

When light travels across a surface it reveals so much texture a detail (my wife looked at this photo and said "hand cream honey". It probably is some act of defiance but I like this photo.

Thanks for looking

Take care, Heinrich

They're all beautiful, and I'm suddenly wondering where you live.

Hey Stu, I live in Chilliwack, BC. I have an old heritage house (built in 1913) located on the banks of the Hope River (people that live near the waterway call it a river, others call it a slough - ha ha)

Here is a picture of the old shack looking up from the river.

The river is great for bringing nature to your door step (and wet feet from boys that like to build rafts and venture to the island)

And yes Heinrich, both you and my wife have convinced me that I should cut back on all the industrial hand cleaner, and slap on a bit of cream. (today I ended up using crazy glue to mend a split in my finger - works incredible well..... but hand cream would be a better preventive measure.

Chilliwack still has snow

If I get my new pad I'll be passing through Chilliwack later this week.
I've got some business in Vancouver, but my new place is just as important.

Yes Stu, I still have 8" in my yard. The roads are clear. The temperature has been hanging around 2 deg C for the last few days. (with the exception of Saturday). It is melting but not as fast as it usually does. West of Chilliwack is clear so your trip into the big City should not be a problem. If you happen to feel the need for a coffe break on your way through the Wack let me know.

Beautiful views. Nice compositions, colours and reflections. Especially like 3 and 4.

Picture postcards there Spyglass. Beautiful scenery and very well captured.
I have a mate who lives in Chilliwack, so I can claim to having been there, lovely part of the world.

My first thought when your photos down loaded was ..."Oh Canada!!"
Cheers.

Beautiful shots, I particularly like the 2nd one and the cormorant on the log. Can't wait to see the snow melting here...
