Wind, water and temperature changes causes these "blowholes" to develop, once there is an opening the erosion factor picks up dramatically. In a million years or so, you won't even recognize these formations.

unusual formations, well captured. The last one is real interesting, could be another planet, ... 3CPO & R2D2 in the fore ground to the right would just finish it nicely.
cheers

CC, this is the first time I have seen sandstone like this, it appears to have shattered away, not eroded. Very odd looking, thanks and this place is other worldly, especially in the evening.

Nice perspective in the first one and bizarre formations in the last one that really stand out against the sky. Well done!

This reminds me of a joke.

A geology professor was expounding on the nature of the universe. At one point he said "In 5 billion years our universe will cease to exist."

A frantic hand wen up in the back of the class, the student leaped to his feet and shouted " What did you just say?"

"In 5 billion years our universe will cease to exist."

'Whew" says the student, 'For a second there I thought you said 5 million."

Bob, there seems to be no end to the new discoveries that you find in your backyard. These are some awesome formations formed without any human intervention. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your next adventure........Cliff

Too funny Norm, I put it on the list. So far it is going to take you about 4 months to complete the scenic route I have for you guys.

Thank you Cliff, your kind words are always appreciated. This wouldn't be too bad a trip for you. Just cut across DV into Vegas and it is only about 50 miles from there. Just make sure and stay away from the tables and slots in the casinos.Bob

Glad you enjoyed the view from here Tess and it is only about 50 miles from Las Vegas if you visit there one day.
