autumn larch in Washington Cascades
Lens: Rikenon-P 28mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Pacific Crest Trail, Northern WA ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F5.6

I took a fine long dayhike along the Crest Trail last week. Starting at Harts Pass road-end I wandered north to Oregon Basin, where the larch were finishing their annual blizzard of golden needles. A glorious day, and one of the last for 2012 - that road will be closing for the season soon as storms arrive.

Despite competition from the DA18-135, DA40 Ltd and Sigma's 15mm fisheye, this shot with my humble all-manual Rikenon really pops out. The polarizer helps!
Azurite Peak and Mt Ballard in the distance.

A few more shots at my Picasa site and more to follow in my 'spare time'.

beautiful! You walked past my dad - that was his favorite place ever, and he had us scatter his ashes up along the ridgeline Pretty sure he's dissipated by now though...

Gorgeous scenery and lovely shots. I visited your Picasa site and enjoyed the views. Wonderful that you got see a Bald Eagle. Thank you for sharing your journey along the Crest Trail.

Jim, that is a very touching story.

Thanks folks! Some narrative about my photo fun is at my 'blog site. The baldie was at Deception Pass, highway 20 where it crosses from Whidbey to Fidalgo Island on a high bridge, a great scene itself. Too bad 135mm was my longest FL, that eagle image got some heavy cropping; maybe the raw image will allow me to bring more out of him.
