These were taken with my K-5 and 18-55mm lens into the sun.The first shot [80% crop] shows 2 ground crew lifting the wing to fit the Pogo undercarriage.

I don't care how old those are, they are still cool.

...and maybe the context sought is of the "it was a cool, gray morning. The blackened bird floated from the skudding clouds, its claws reaching for the asphalt. Unknown to those around it, the bird sought peace and kept a watchful eye for transgressions. Not a thinking bird, nonetheless intelligent. This bird is flown by man..." variety...

I was thinking more to the point of "This is the plane Obama sends up if he wants photos of your wife sunbathing in the nude in your back yard." What do you suppose a POGO undercarriage is?" Is there a high resolution lens in there?

The Orange wheels on each wing are Pogo's these are dropped before take off . When the aircraft lands the only wheels it has are on the fuselage ,the Pogo's have to be re fitted before the Aircraft can taxi. In the first shot the aircraft is resting on one wingtip

is this aircraft at a museum, mothballed or is it still deployed?
what role do you have that allows you to get so close?
can you share a little history of the aircraft?

This aircraft is going back to Beale AFB in California for servicing after deployment in Safi Morocco and RAF Fairford is used as a change over point .
These aircraft first flew in the 50's and this one made it's first flight 28Th Aug 1967
