I used Topaz Simplify on this to give it a slightly painted look.

Great composition; layers, form, colors, placement of the little house on the island.

As the other comments, I like the painting-like effect which I think helps to emphasize the compositional aspects; i.e., thinking about someone creating the image as opposed to simply capturing it.

However, I'll just share a few thoughts I'm having as I look at it. I noticed that you used a 70 mm lens at f/9.5 and I am just wondering how this worked for you in terms of DoF. Hyperfocal distance would be roughly 70 feet which would put the point of closest focus at around 35 feet if the most distant points are to remain in acceptably sharp focus. So unless focus stacking was used, requiring a perfectly calm day, it would seem that perhaps softness could be an issue and then the effect would be a great way to use the composition.

If this had been shot with a wide angle lens, on the other hand, while the potential DoF issue would be improved, the proximity of the subject house to the foreground would be adversely affected. So I guess therein lies the compromise, and I really like your decision -- this is a gorgeous image!

ChicagoJohn: I think I focused on the grasses in the middle distance...maybe about 25 feet away, so the background is quite sharp although the pink flowers in the foreground are a bit OOF.
Thanks for the compliments everyone
