the Stomp

not the old dance, but the Grape Stomp. This is an annual event at the Charleston Winery here in Pahrump, Nevada and a two day event. Teams and individuals from all over the area including Las Vegas come to attend in this hilarious event. Contestants are given 10 pounds of grapes and two minutes to turn the grape into juice which is weighed. Winners get bottles of wine from the winery, the only one in Nevada, and a case of wine is presented to the overall victor. There are so many people entering the contest that a new stomp is held every half hour over the two day event. This is fun to watch, the contestants and helpers that make sure the hole in the bottom of the barrel is clear, take this event very seriously which makes it even more fun to observe. A few pics from the "Stomp". I'll post a seperate thread on the crowd and area.

Well Rupert the free wine tasting is always good, but the wine they sell isn't any better than the box wine they sell at the grocery stores. IMO that is, but lots of folks come in from Vegas and keep the place in business so guess everyone has a different tastes

Who would've thunk? Looks like fun, the free wine would make it even more fun, and I love seeing the mountains in the background.

lots of fun for sure Tess, Terri says if we ever settle down, it has to be where she can see mountains.
