Bodie
Posted By: GeoJerry, 10-20-2012, 07:55 PM

I am on an HDR tear this weekend, I guess. Here are some shots from the ghost town of Bodie, California. This was a big gold mining town founded around 1860, and reached a peak population of around 5,000 in the late 1800's. As the gold played out in the early 20th century, people left, leaving much of their goods and possessions where they were last used. Apparently it cost more to transport the stuff than it was worth, so if you walk around the town and look in the windows, you'll see things where they were left there many years ago.

Thinks Nick! Will post some more soon. :-)

Well, do any of these grab you? I kind of like the first one.

All gloriously and defiantly over the top!
The first one is definately the best for me. Reason being the sky picks up the colours and shades of the house and doen´t introduce any new colours. Makes it calmer, more balanced and, if you like, less posterized.

Indeed! The first does have some potential but I think it needs a cheezy 40 spaceship!
Now you're getting somewhere! Yeah, it's not outrageous enough. It needs something special.

Thanks bluestringer! And riff, I'll see what I can come up with for a more "interesting" sky. :-)
