Indian Pony
Photo Location: Oregon
Posted By: Bob Harris, 10-22-2012, 02:39 PM

from our travels we visited the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Pendleton, Oregon and were fortunate to meet this man who explained the history and current conditions of this proud Indian Nation. He posed with his pony in ceremonial wear, the horse is used in everyday ranch life. Thanks for taking a look. Bob

Wow, this is a wonderful photo. I love the regalia on the horse, the coyote pelt, the beaded tapestries, the colours. The rolling country side is interesting too. You get to meet and see such interesting people and places. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much Tess, this is a very interesting area to visit, we spent a couple of weeks visiting different small towns while camping there

John, I really like the landscape in this part of Oregon, of course the coast is beautiful too when it isn't raining and windy. Thanks for taking a look. Bob

Bob, do you have a photo of that horse pulling your RV? Seriously, that's a great photo. You could take that photo and turn it into a b&w or sepia, add some grain, and it would look like it was taken in 1890. I really like it.

I'll tell you Tom, if these damn diesel prices don't start dropping soon, I might just get a team of horses to pull our rig. Hadn't thought about a photo conversion like you were talking about, I like the idea and will give it a try. thanks Bob

Heinrich, I think of this as high desert, at least that is what we call it where I come from. It's my favorite landscape, generally wide open country with beautiful views all around.

Great shot and story. Was going to say that doesn't look like the Oregon landscape that comes to mind.

Yeah Larry, that East side of WA and OR is quite a bit different than the West side. Not as much moisture, fog, etc on the East side, hot summers and the winters can really get cold. We don't go up there in the winter anymore, i had to almost buy a coat one year, so we just headed south.
